Thursday Lunchtime Concert : Lucy Barratt, Tabitha Bolter, Niamh Rodgers and Friends

We are hosting our Thursday Lunchtime Concerts at 1.10pm, doors open at 12.30pm for refreshments. The concert will be in person and live-streamed on YouTube on the link here - https://youtu.be/jz70YoMqV0k. Lucy Barratt shall be conducting and playing the piano, with the following musicians:

Biographies:

Lucy Barratt

Lucy Barratt is a British pianist currently in her third year at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is 21 years old and was born in Bristol. She started playing the piano at the age of five inspired by her mother, a piano teacher, and by both of her parents who encouraged her to listen to music from an early age. After learning for a year with her mother she began studies with Catherine Miller in Bristol with whom she continued to study with for ten years. She studied at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester with Helen Krizos and now receives tuition from Katya Apekisheva at the Guildhall.

Achievements include reaching the ‘EPTA’ finals, subsequently obtaining first place and reaching the finals of the ‘Scottish International Piano Competition’ as well as winning many local competitions and the overall prize in the ‘Bristol Festival of Music Speech and Drama’. In 2020 Lucy took part in the Music and Stars International Piano Competition achieving Runner-up and in the Neapolitan Masters International Piano Competition where she reached the finals. She has also taken an LTCL performance diploma. As well as this she was invited to give a recital at the Hebden Bridge Piano Festival. At aged 13 Lucy organised a concert for Teenage cancer trust raising over £500 and she has also taken part in many charity concerts, including three concerts in around Manchester with other pianists from RNCM and Chethams’ playing Bach’s Preludes and Fugues book 1. She has performed both as a soloist and ensemble player in concert venues such as St.Georges, Henleaze URC in Bristol, the Bristol Music Club, the Welsh College of Music and Drama, the Steinway Showrooms and Chappell's in London, in Bristol Ensemble concerts and in Manchester Cathedral. More recently she done a promotional video for a new concert hall in Bristol as well as performing with a violinist for the Swedish ambassador. She performed at the Verao Classical International Piano festival and has also attended masterclasses with Charles Owen, Murray Mclachlan, Boris Berman and Eldar Nebolsin.

Tabitha Bolter

Tabitha Bolter is a London based horn player in her final year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she is supported by a scholarship and studies primarily with Angela Barnes, Phil Munds and Richard Bissill. After graduating in the summer, she has accepted a place to continue her studies at the Royal College of Music where she will complete her postgraduate degree. Tabitha has played with a wide range of ensembles including, but not limited to, The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, The Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, Jersey Chamber Orchestra, Decoda, the Al Bustan Festival Orchestra and Orion Orchestra.

Niamh Rodgers
Niamh Rodgers is from Cork, Ireland and is currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland from 2015-2019 and was appointed principal in 2016. She has performed with this orchestra in venues across the Netherlands and Ireland. Niamh has won various awards at the Feis Ceoil and Feis Maitiu competitions on both Horn and Violin. She is currently a member of the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra and has recently performed at Cadogan Hall and St. John Smith Square. Niamh studies Horn with Richard Bissill, Angela Barnes and Phil Munds and second study conducting with David Corkhill.
