Resilience & New activities

Resilience Project: Rekindling the past to build our future

Our project seeks to enhance the resilience of the PCC, building its capacity to take on more activities, scale up operations, and prepare for a future capital project. We will pilot a programme of pilot activities, overseen by the Heritage Engagement Consultant to test demand and interest with local and wider audiences. These will be framed by the heritage significance of Holy Sepulchre informed by a Conservation Plan, and will include piloting wellbeing walks, Heritage and Art History workshop and a food distribution activity.

Project 1: Deliver a range of organisational reviews

  • We will strengthen the PCC’s capacity by undertaking a Governance Review, including a skills audit and a SWOT analysis, a community development strategy; the strategic planning around the phasing of future capital works , and prepare a Business Plan to guide and sustain future operations.

  • To improve the management of our Grade I listed building we will prepare a full costed condition survey; and we will develop sketch options (RIBA 1) for the use of internal space.

  • We will prepare a net carbon strategy and action plan, and

  • A fundraising strategy will be prepared to identify how we will raise the funds to develop and deliver the next phase of capital projects and feed into the overall Strategy Planning document.

Project 2: Drinking Fountain

  • We will undertake repairs to the water fountain, connecting it to the water supply and bringing it back into use. We will steam clean the fountain, undertake mortar repairs to the Portland Stone and repoint areas of the brick wall as necessary.  The lettering to the inscriptions will be repainted where fading.

Project 3: Deliver some pilot community activities

  • Wellbeing Walks: We will develop a series of walks around the benefice to and from the various green spaces and explore how to make them appropriate for those living with dementia and our adult autism groups to make them as accessible as possible. We will also upload the routes to our existing app; and make a “film” of the route, showing it in the church on screens.

  • Heritage and Art History workshop: We will develop an Art History session for schools, using the internal fittings of the church to support discussion, and to offer heritage and arts careers advice; and

  • Food volunteering: We will undertake at least one food distribution activity with our partners and corporate volunteers
