The Royal Fusiliers: Recounting Their Sacrifice
In addition to our film project ‘Stories from the Korean War: 1952-53’ which premiered earlier this year, we are pleased to present Holy Sepulchre’s Royal Fusiliers Chapel Committee’s second film project working with the educational charity Legasee, ‘The Ballad of Salerno’, providing information about The Battle of Salerno and the beginnings of the Liberation of Italy.
A comment from Fr Nick: ‘These films are such important projects to all of us here at Holy Sepulchre, that will not only enhance our annual Korean remembrance service and the commemoration of Salerno and the Italian Campaign, but also help to ensure all those who visit us will understand a little more of the scale of sacrifice made by so many, and perhaps encourage a great recognition of the debt we owe them.’
A comment from Col (retd.) Simon Diggins, Chairman of the Fusilier Museum London, on The Battle of Salerno and the beginnings of the Liberation of Italy: the Royal Fusiliers in the Italian Campaign. ‘ "Without memory, there is no culture. Without memory, there would be no civilization, no society, no future." Elie Wiesel (Nobel Laureate)’
We have limited funds and so any financial support towards the cost of these films or contribution to the important ongoing work by Holy Sepulchre and the Royal Fusiliers’ Chapel Committee would be appreciated. Please follow the link below.
