Our programme of renewal and regeneration
In 2021 we embarked on a new and exciting journey. Led by the Reverend Nick Mottershead (“Fr Nick”), the PCC has refocused its vision. Taking the rich musical and military heritage of Holy Sepulchre as inspiration to further its contribution to the Common Good, operations are gradually up-scaling. From our Grade I listed church on Holborn Viaduct, we have been working to re-establish relationships, bringing local partners together to support and enrich the lives of people in all seasons of life, young and old, well and unwell, homed and homeless. We are now open more regularly, offering weekly services, concerts, exhibitions, visitor content, spaces for hire, and ‘warm spaces’. To sustain ourselves, we are trialling a range of social outreach and income generating activities, which meet our music and social welfare goals, and target specific audiences, including: city workers; the homeless; dementia sufferers, SEND young people and carers; early career musicians; schools and Old Bailey witnesses’ and victims’ families. We are also embarking on a substantial programme of repairs and restoration projects.
We started our Resounding Future campaign with a funding target of £1m, then as we secured and progressed our parallel programme of both “worship, educational and community renewal and regeneration” activities and “core building and monument” renewal and regeneration, this increased to £1.5m, then £2m and now in this Stage 2 of the programme (as set out below) we are looking to the long term future with a cumulative target of over £5m.
We set out below the major progress we have made so far, to celebrate these achievements by the whole team and in recognition of the many who have and are joining in with us to on this journey. There is much more to do and we hope you will want to join in with us too. If you have any questions and want to find our more do get in touch with Fr Nick or one of the team.
