Weekly Concert with LPMAM Ukrainian Refugee Music Students

The Holy Sepulchre Church and LPMAM collaboration presents a weekly concert series by musicians from the Ukraine Conservatoires. Free to attend concert with retiring collection shared by the musicians and Holy Sepulchre's Music in the Community Fund. This is an in person concert only.

Kirill Panchenko, trumpet

LPMAM Concert 10th November 2022

Kirill is a 20 years old trumpet player from Kharkiv. He was studying in the second year of Kharkiv University of Arts named after I.P. Kotlyarevsky when the war started. He was a member of the Kharkiv Academy Orchestra and of the Youth Academic Symphony Orchestra “Slobozhansky”. He is a recipient of full scholarship for the Trentino Music Festival, were he performed with students from all Europe and America as principal trumpet of the festival orchestra.

Lilia Shevchuk, soprano

Lilya is a 17 years old conductor and soprano from Kalush. At 9th grade she entered the Special College of Culture and Arts of Kalush on the specialty Folk Song Art and passed the vocal exam with 190 points out of 200. She was the first ranking among the students of her course and was awarded full scholarship to study vocals, derivation of scores and choir, piano and bandura. Lilya was invited to participate in the ensemble resident of the Palace of Culture of Kalush and performed at all events in the city and the region.

Alona Cherdnichenko, soprano

Aloyna is an 18 years old conductor from Kharkiv. She was 1st year undergraduate student at Kharkiv State Univeristy when the war started. At the age of 6 she entered the Kharkiv State Music Lyceum, from which she graduated as a choral conductor and in 2021 I entered the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture. She conducted in various concerts and festivals, such as “Visiting Aivazovsky”, “Visiting Gogol”, “Music is our common home”. She also participated in the Ilya Slatin International Competition for Young Musicians 2021, where she received the third prize.

Yuliia Mats, piano

Yuliia is a 19 years old pianist from Kharkiv, Ukraine. She graduated with honours from the Kharkiv Mozart Music School in piano, vocal, guitar, and played in the percussion orchestra on the vibraphone, winning several competitions in each instrument and full scholarship to continue her studies at the Kharkiv Secondary Specialized Music School. She is now a student at the Kharkiv National University of Arts, with scholarship for high academic performance. She is the winner of many international competitions, such as the “Feurich- Virtuos” in Lviv, Chopin Piano Competition in Narva, Kharkiv Assemblies Music Competition.

Lola Marchenko, oboe

Lolita was a 20 years old undergraduate student of Lviv National Academy of Music named after. M.V. Lysenko, specialization in orchestral woodwind and percussion instruments when the war started. She was also the Secretary of Student Self-Government of the Lviv National Academy of Music, and head of the chummery, responsible for the settlement of refugees from eastern Ukraine. She is a Laureate of the All-Ukrainian competition of wind and percussion victors “Sofievsky Surmy”, Uman city (III place), 2nd Prize at “Dniprovsky Surmi” competition in Dnipro, 1st Prize at “Your Dream” Kropyvnytskyi city.

Maxim Artyomenko, piano

Maksim is a 19 years old pianist from Kharkiv. He started piano at 6 years old and he was at his 3rd year of bachelor at the Kharkiv University of Arts under the guidance of prof. O.V. Fekete when the war started. He won several international competitions in such cities as: Kharkiv (Cherny Competition, “Kharkov Assemblies”) Zaporozhye (“Chords of Khortitsa”, 1st prize), Narva (Chopin Competition).

Giulio Cecchi, guitar

Giulio is an Italian guitarist currently teaching-internship at LPMAM. He started studying
guitar with Diego Lopilato and Flavio Cucchi, and after his bachelor’s degree at Fiesole
Music Academy with Silvano Mazzoni, he completed a master degree at the Vecchi-Tonelli
Musical Institute in Modena, where he studied with Andrea Dieci. Giulio has won several
guitar competitions including first prize at “Città di Moncalieri”European Music Competition,
“G. Rospigliosi”National Competition and London Classical Music Competition. His guitar-
flute duo with Emma Longo has received several awards, including first prize at Premio “G.Alberghini”, Florence Guitar Competition and “Crescendo”Competition. He teaches guitar at Caruso Musical Accademy in Lastra a Signa (Florence)and at Artes Music School in Prato.

Holy Sepulchre, the National Musicians’ Church and the London Performing Academy of Music are excited to announce that in response to the war in Ukraine, some of the rooms, including the Henry Wood Room at the church will be used for students from the Ukraine Conservatoires to restart their studies since arriving here under the visa scheme. In addition, the intention is for the church to also be used for regular concerts to provide performance opportunities for the students and generate income to fund the collaboration.

The collaboration between Holy Sepulchre and LPMAM is in response to the war in Ukraine, and provides a place for tuition, rehearsals and concerts for musicians from the Ukraine Conservatoires (https://hsl.church/give)
