End of Proms Service

  • Holy Sepulchre London Holborn Viaduct London, EC1A 2FD United Kingdom (map)

Come and be a part of the traditional end-of-season service from the National Musicians’ Church, Holy Sepulchre, the final resting place of Sir Henry Wood, founder of the Promenade concerts, and where he gained his love for music as a young singer and organist.

During Choral Evensong, sung by The Choir of Holy Sepulchre, the chaplet from Sir Henry's bust at the Royal Albert Hall will be returned to his grave in the Musicians’ Memorial Chapel where his ashes are interred. In keeping with the tradition of the festival and this historic service, there will be a new commission by American composer Dan Forrest.  The full service music will be published in advance.

The 1 hour service will be followed by some refreshments and an opportunity to chat and view the church, including the Musicians' Memorial chapel. The service will also be live on BBC Radio 3 and an Order of Service will be available to download for those who unable to join us in person.

3pm, Holy Sepulchre, London EC1A 2DQ
