Biography

Winner of the 2022 Harriet Cohen Bach Prize, Rebecca Leung has a demanding schedule of concerts and recitals across the UK and Europe.

Having studied at the Royal Academy of Music since the age of nine, she is in the final year of her undergraduate degree at the prestigious institute, studying in the class of Emeritus Head of Keyboard Professor Christopher Elton. Her previous teachers include Head of Keyboard Professor Joanna Macgregor and Professor Tessa Nicholson. She has also received masterclasses from renowned artists such as Arie Vardi, Steven Osborne, Pascal Rogé, and Yevgeny Sudbin.

An award winner at many international competitions, she is a laureate of the 2018 International Ettlingen Piano Competition in Germany and the 2021 International Pianale Piano Competition; and was named First and Overall Prizewinner of the Rotary International Young Musician of the Year, Great Britain and Ireland.

Rebecca will make her recital debut in Germany later this year. She has previously made appearances at the Wigmore Hall, and the Southbank Centre, London; Hrvatski Dom Split, Croatia and has performed with orchestra at the Talent Summer Music Festival in Brescia, Italy and at the Duke’s Hall, London.

Rebecca enjoys exploring both traditional and unconventional piano repertoires. Her repertoire ranges from Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Piano Sonata no.2 ‘Fire Sermon’ to Carl Nielsen’s Chaconne op.32. Her upcoming projects in 2022 include Rautavaara’s Piano Concerto no.1 and the Samuel Barber Piano Sonata.
