The Friends of the Musicians’ Chapel annual Requiem Service will be held in memory of all musicians whose names are inscribed in the Musicians’ Book of Remembrance on Wednesday 2nd November 2022 at 5.00pm. It will be a Choral Eucharist with music by The Choir of Holy Sepulchre (12-piece choir), London. All are welcome.

Music is: Officium Defunctorum, Tomas Luis de Victoria

Victoria’s setting of the Office for the Dead is not only one of the finest settings of the Requiem to music, but also the zenith of the high Renaissance polyphonic style. Written for the funeral of Empress Maria in 1603, it was sung at a lavish mass as the climax of a two-day funeral ceremony.
