Creation Quartet:
Praised by audiences for their “spellbinding performances,” the Creation Quartet is an emerging string quartet bringing a youthful and vibrant energy to the stage. Founded by four international friends and colleagues at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, the quartet trained intensively under the guidance of Prof. Rivka Golani and Prof. Leon Bosch, also appearing in masterclasses with the Piatti Quartet and the Linos Trio. Since the quartet’s inaugural concert in December 2021, their momentum has taken them across the UK on exciting collaborations in each of their performances with composers and various guest performers. Most recently, the quartet were invited to perform with Malcolm Singer and Andrew Bernardi at Arundel Castle in an event hosted by the Duke of Norfolk. Alongside their performance projects, the quartet has branched out into music education, appearing as guest tutors at the Bernardi Music Group String Academy. The quartet’s name pays tribute to the founding father of the string quartet genre; Franz Joseph Haydn, composer of the well-known work The Creation. For this concert, the quartet are delighted to welcome Martha Maria-Mitu to perform as part of the Creation Quartet, and will be joined on stage by international guest performer Alex Ferkey.
Alex Ferkey:
A native of the state of Wisconsin, Alex Ferkey has given performances throughout the United States and the United Kingdom. While freelancing in the United States, he served as the Assistant Principal bass of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, and performed with numerous orchestras within the Midwest, including the Sioux City, Ottumwa, Quincy, and Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestras. Ferkey is also an active chamber musician and has given recitals and masterclasses across the USA and UK. Ferkey received a BMus from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a MA from the University of Iowa. He is currently pursuing an MMus at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he studies with Leon Bosch. Mr. Ferkey is generously supported in his studies through the Paul Monk, Loveday, and Trinity College London Scholarships.
