Hugo Maughan (clarinet) is originally from Kent and started his musical career aged 10 as a chorister at the Queen’s Chapel of the Savoy, London. He now studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Nick Carpenter, James Mainwaring and Liz May. Hugo is a versatile performer and is in particular demand as a woodwind doubler for musical theatre. As well as this, he has played principal clarinet for Ballet Cymru and Cardiff chamber orchestra among others and regularly performs with his reed trio, the Darach Ensemble, across England and Wales.
