When we pray we are talking to God. Christians have the mind-blowing privilege of being able to approach God freely and confidently in prayer. We talk to him as our father and can ask for his presence and help in all areas of our lives and world. We believe that praying is one of the most exciting and impactful things that we can do and we try and make space for prayer in everything that we do as a church.
Prayer plays an important role in all our services and Discipleship Groups. We set aside time for intercessory prayer (asking God to help us, or others, in particular ways or situations), either spoken from the front or led in a more interactive way. We usually have time for ‘prayer ministry’, in which those who want have a chance to ask members of our team to pray with them about specific things, asking the Holy Spirit to help them.
‘ And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.’ Ephesians 6:18
The Prayer Room
We believe prayer should be front and centre in our lives and all that we do here at Holy Sepulchre’s. On Sunday 15th May 2016 during our Pentecost service we launched the prayer room. This was in response to members of the leadership team and congregation who felt we should create a space set aside solely for prayer.
The prayer room is normally open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm, and 8am-7pm on Saturday. When you have booked a slot you will receive a confirmation email, and a reminder 24 hours before your allocated time, or 1 hour before if you book on the day. The confirmation email will give you all the information you need for accessing and using the room.
We hope within the next couple of months we will be able to have the room open 24/7. If you are a member of the congregation please email firstname.lastname@example.org for out of hours access.
We have multiple prayer stations to inspire and encourage you to pray. For example-
Holy Sepulchre’s Prayer Wall- a chalkboard you can write prayer requests and prayers of thanksgiving
Quiet and Reflective Corner
Children’s Wall- we are praying for the children and youth in our church
City of London & Workplace Illustration- using the wall illustration as inspiration to pray for our city
We would love to encourage you to get involved. Please book a slot for you to pray, or bring a group of friends to pray with.
If you have any questions please email email@example.com.
