Welsh tenor and composer Gareth Treseder studied at the University of Bristol and Cardiff’s Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. The RWCMD has since made him an Honorary Associate. Gareth was also honoured to sing alongside the Monteverdi Choir, directed by Sir John Eliot Gardiner, during the Coronation of TM King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey.
Heralded by Schott Music as one of "the finest emerging choral composers of our time," Gareth's music has been performed and recorded globally. Many of his works have been published by Boosey & Hawkes, Stainer & Bell, the RSCM and Hal Leonard. Recent premieres include two works performed at Christmas 2025: Mae’r nos yn ddu, or The night is dark (Soprano and Tenor Solo/SATB/Organ) - commissioned by the Master of the Worshipful Company of Musicians Alun Hughes, and sung by Jonathan Rennert's Choir of St Michael's Cornhill; Ring, Bells, Ring! (SATB/Piano), commissioned by Julian Collings' Epsom Choral Society. His setting of O Sacrum Convivium (Soprano Solo/SATB) will be premiered by Dr Joseph Fort's Choir of St Paul's Knightsbridge as part of the London Festival of Contemporary Choral Music 2026.
On Saturday 13th March 2027, Gareth will premiere his Welsh-language setting, Dioddefaint Sant Mathew, or St. Matthew Passion (Tenor Solo/SATB/Piano) alongside Nicola Rose in Swansea Minster, directed by Jonathan Rogers. This 45-minute work will be dedicated to the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales, who graciously presented Gareth with the Silver Jubilee Development Award in 2026, which makes the performance possible.
Gareth is incredibly humbled that his music will feature in the Holy Sepulchre's Inaugural Birthday Evensong on Wednesday 8th July 2026, including a world premiere of his setting dedicated to Graham Neal - the Treseder Preces and Responses in D. Gareth wishes to express his sincerest gratitude to The Choir of Holy Sepulchre, their director Peter Asprey, the Music Administrator Izzy Gibber and all who serve and work within the Holy Sepulchre London for granting Gareth this extraordinary birthday gift - one that he will forever treasure.

London's newest medieval music group, Green Dragon Guild is named after Green Dragon Court, the ancient street in central London that winds around the surviving medieval corner of Southwark Cathedral.
But since that time, many green dragons of contemporary fantasy have appeared, like the Green Dragon Inn, the mythical Tolkien location where the quest to the Lonely Mountain begins.
This combination, of surviving medieval remnants and contemporary imagination, reflects the heart of the Guild’s artistic vision.
It is an exciting new take on medieval and modern music, presenting evocative works from the 12th to 15th centuries as well as contemporary composition that is medieval-inspired, all brought to life through historically-informed performance.
The Guild comprises professional musicians based in the UK with specialisation in medieval music:
Directed by David Yardley (countertenor, medieval harpist, composer)
Juliette Primrose (vielle)
Dr Leah Stuttard (medieval harps)
Richard de Winter (bass, narration)
David de Winter (tenor)
From kings and queens, to archangels and fallen angels, from druids and demons, to visions and voles, our launch concert presents music and tales of iconic figures from across the ages.
Performed in historic Holy Sepulchre church, the National Musicians' Church and site of the meetings of one of the original medieval guilds, the Guild and Fraternity of St Katherine.
Be immersed in transporting sound, from refined courtly songs, to rowdy taverns, to otherworldly music of spiritual reflection. Our performances bring to life the vibrant, complex lives of medieval people from all parts of society, and their fantasy descendants.
Curated with knowledge and passion, our performances encourage reflection not just on history, but on its relevance as a source of solace and inspiration in modern life.
